UNESCO launched its first inaugural Tech Diplomacy Forum last month, bringing together governments, policymakers, civil society, and stakeholders to discuss and shape the future of global digital governance.
UNESCO hosts this Forum as part of its work on science, technology and innovation policy. It follows the UNESCO Global Ministerial Dialogue on Science Diplomacy which took place on 25-26 March 2025.
The forum focused on bridging the gap between technology and diplomacy and addressing challenges like cybersecurity, and digital inequality while emphasizing the need for inclusive, trust-based diplomatic frameworks.
The key themes:
Digital sovereignty and global governance;
AI and Ethics in international relations;
Cybersecurity and international cooperation; and
Bridging the digital divide.
