Seminar: Shifting Gender Norms: An Imperative for a Skills and Jobs Revolution

On September 17 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM ET

A 90-minute WBG seminar will explore how homes, schools, and communities—alongside governments and the private sector—can play a pivotal role in addressing gender norms to boost girls' education and skills.

Drawing on insights from global leaders, practitioners, and youth voices, the session will highlight evidence and innovative solutions that shift collective mindsets, strengthen girls’ access to quality education, and support transition from school to work. By showcasing approaches that work across different contexts, the discussion will point to scalable and cost-effective strategies that can drive a meaningful skills and jobs revolution for girls

Jointly launched by the Gender Group and Education Global Department, the LEAS Series shares evidence-based strategies to help Bank teams more effectively support adolescent girls (ages 10–19). The series focuses on gender-transformative approaches to improve girls’ well-being, prevent early marriage and GBV, promote school completion, and enhance transitions to work—aligned with the WBG Gender Strategy 2024–2030. LEAS also fosters cross-sectoral learning and collaboration across the Bank and with partners.
